Jnana Yoga is often referred to as the path of knowledge or wisdom.  It focuses on the pursuit of true knowledge and understanding of the self and the universe through direct experience and intellectual inquiry.

Bhakti yoga explores the Wisdom of the Heart in practice, moment to moment experience and the relational field.  It can open into subtler human qualities as it refines.

The concept of true rest transcends the mere act of sleeping or taking a break from physical activities. It involves a deep inner recognition of our own True Nature, and a care that carries through different areas of life:

  • Physical rest entails both passive forms, like sleep, and active forms, such as gentle stretching or yoga.
  • Mental rest involves giving the mind a break from constant processing, often achievable through mindful practices.
  • Emotional rest requires us to be authentic and to express our feelings freely.
  • Social rest involves spending time with supportive and nourishing people.
  • Sensory rest focuses on reducing overstimulation from our environment.
  • Creative rest allows us to appreciate beauty and let our imagination flow without constraints.
  • Spiritual rest connects us to something greater than ourselves, providing a sense of purpose and belonging.

Taking Asana Deeper

I have been practising yoga for many years in Rowan’s classes, which are wide ranging and always thought provoking. Over the years we have covered so many aspects of yoga, including basic and complex movements and sequences, meditation, breathwork, health, wellness, and spirituality. I have really enjoyed developing and growing in so many ways in Rowan’s classes and also at his retreats and festivals. I always enjoy and benefit from Rowan’s classes and his unique approach to yoga practice which is highly recommended.
